This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a second game of Space Hulk, continuing from the previous mission.
After returning to the battle barge, sensors detected the telemetry from the two marines with faint life signs deeper inside the ship. A rescue mission was quickly planned to locate and recover the two marines if their condition was viable. If not, cleanse and protect the gene-seed.
Terminators lead the way with tactical marines as backup.
The nearest corridors fill with ‘steelers.
The advance slows.
The tactical marines redeploy to find less congested entrances. Chaos marines teleport in and attempt to gather the geneseed of the marines left from the previous mission.
The Chaos marines are wiped out by ‘steelers and long range terminator fire.
This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a game of Space Hulk. The mission for the Space Marines was to find an artifact at the far end of the table and return it to one of the entry points. First edition (1989) rules were used, with a few additions from the expansions.
The objective artifact is hidden in one of the bio-engineered rooms at the top.
The left squad covers Genestealer entry points on the left while the others move toward the objective.
No casualties so far, but the right squad is nose to nose with some Genestealers.
The Space Marines take significant losses before reaching the objective area.
The captain orders the survivors to escape if they can….
… while he holds off the hordes.
There were only four marine survivors, and the artifact was not recovered. A complete Genestealer victory.
This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a Bolt Action game.
South of Sword Beach, June 8, 1944.
The British 1 / Suffolk Regiment is advancing south toward Caen following the D Day landings. The next objective for the regiment is the twin villages of Bieville – Bienville. The 1st Platoon of ‘B’ Company is making a flanking attack against the German defenses on the outskirts of the villages. Once the defenses are overcome, the remainder of the regiment can attack the villages.
The German 736 Regiment of the 716th Division is trying to form a solid defensive line in front of Caen. The 3rd company of the regiment has been tasked with holding Bieville – Bienville. The 2nd Platoon has dug into hasty defensive positions on the outskirts of Bieville – Bienville to delay the British advance.
After a preliminary barrage, the British approach the German positions.
The German right.
The German left.
Looking across the open fields toward the objectives.
The British feint on the left and attack on the right, using the woods for cover. Both British tanks are knocked out.
Both British tanks are knocked out.
As the right flank attack is slowed by heavy casualties, the left is thrown in.
Although one of the three objectives was cleared of defending infantry, it was not taken by the British. A clear German victory.
This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a Bolt Action game. The scenario was a meeting engagement between infantry forces.
Infantry squads advance on to the table. Each side hid a mortar team in the corner behind woods.
Machine gun and advancing infantry fire hits and pins a German squad in the upper left. German infantry occupies a two-story objective house.
Russian infantry occupies the other objective house (top). The Russian mortar causes heavy casualties to the infantry in the two-story objective house.
Assault combats eliminate one Russian and two German squads.
With most of the German infantry gone, we called this a Russian victory.
